There’s nothing quite as comforting as a warm bowl of udon noodle soup. With tender slices of beef, chewy udon noodles, and a savory broth, it’s like a warm hug in a bowl. Here, I’m using a store-bought soup base. The soup base is called Hontsuyu, and it’s my go-to for many Japanese-style noodle soups and rice bowls. You can find this soup base in Japanese, almost any Asian grocery store, or online. The beauty of this recipe is you can balance the saltiness and sweetness levels to taste by adjusting the amount of Hontsuyu, or brown sugar, you add to the broth.
